David's Bio and racing career

Riding for Double M Racing is 22 year old top scottish racer David Paton. 

David started racing at the age of 13 on mini-motos and David quickly progressed to win the championship in his second and last year.

David then aged 14, moved onto the Aprilia 125s where he won the Scottish championship in his first year. He went on to retain it in his 2nd year as well as winning the final round of the British Superteens.

Next on the agenda were the 400's where he won the Scottish title and numerous British MRO rounds taking 6 lap records at different tracks around Britain.

During 2006-2008, David moved up to the British scene in the Virgin Media R6 cup where he finished 3rd overall in 2007. He was featured in Channel 5's documentary programme "Natural Born Racers."

In 2008 David contested in the European superstock 600 Championship (That runs alongside the World Superbikes) racing for Racedays Yamaha with a highest finish of 8th at Assen, Holland. Due to lack of sponsorship David returned to the British championships and breifly raced for AIM Yamaha in the British Supersport Championship at Knockhill and Cadwell Park.

In 2009 David raced in the British Supersport Cup achieving several podiums. The 2010 season saw a jump to 1000cc machinery with a season riding the new BMW S1000R in the Scottish Championship and selected British Superstock rounds. David won the KDMC Championship, the NEMCRC Championship and was 2nd in the Scottish Championship. He was a consistent top ten runner at the BSB rounds!

Highlights

2003- First Year- Scottish 125 Champion

2004- Finished 11th in the Aprilia Superteens and was the winner of the final round at Brands Hatch.

2005- 3rd in the MRO 400 Supersport

2006- Winning at Knockhill in the Virgin R6 cup.

2007- Superstock 600 Scottish champion and coming 1st at both Cadwell Park and Oulton park in the Virgin R6 cup.

2008- Finishing 12th at Assen in the European Superstock 600s.
Seven consecutive podiums at Oulton Park, Cadwell Park and Knockhill.

2009 2nd position at the Donnington Park round of the British Supersport Cup. Setting the supersport lap record at East Fortune race circuit only 0.2s slower than the superbike lap record!

2010 8th at the Croft round of the BSB after starting from 14th on the grid. Winning the Neil Mackenzie tribute race at Knockhill by a 5 second margin.

Lowlights

2005- Broken leg at Pembrey in the 600 Supersport
2006- Broken leg at Cadwell in the Virgin R6 cup practice.
2007- Fractured Vertabrae at Donnington Park whilst leading the Virgin R6 cup.
2008- Incomplete season in the European supersport 600s due to lack of sponsorship.
