A beautiful, sunny
Knockhill
played host to the 5
th
round of the Scottish championship races and with David’s 100% pole position record so far, the team were optimistic for qualifying, the first of the sessions.
Unfortunately 5 laps into the 20 minute qualifying session David encountered a small mechanical problem which was quickly
fixed, but sadly not in time to finish the qualifying session, this meant that David had to settle for 3
rd
spot on the grid, still on the front row nonetheless.
Race 1 and
Paton
got off to a flyer, which continued thoughout the race despite a race stoppage due to a faller at Duffus. Paton stormed to victory with a margin of over 5 seconds, setting a fastest lap only 0.1s off the lap record.
For race 2 the Team
Paramed
rider again started from 3
rd
spot for the 10 lap race. Mirroring the race 1 start, as he grabbed the hole-shot, the BMW package again seemed to be flawless with
Paton
gapping the following riders seemingly effortlessly. David went on to win again by over 5 seconds!
With Great results over race-day David managed to jump from 4
th
position in the Scottish championship, to 2
nd
and with a decreased margin between himself and the leader, naturally the team are optimistic and have full confidence in David to go on
and fight for the Championship, as we are so far into the season, any chance of winning the Premier Class – Scottish championship title was starting to look bleak, but after another double win for Paton… all hope is certainly not lost.
The next round of the Scottish championship is at East Fortune race circuit on 18
th
/19
th
September. In the meantime Team
Paramed
head to Croft circuit 10th-12th September for the next round of the
Metzeler
National
Superstock
championship.
